Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Anton Grabmaier is the director of the Fraunhofer IMS. At the same time, he is a professor at the Chair of Electronic Devices and Circuits at the University of Duisburg-Essen.

Doctorate at Fraunhofer IMS

In which areas are you conducting research?

We focus on smart sensor technology for applications in the industrial, automotive and healthcare sector. We are looking at issues in semiconductor technology to enable new types of improved sensors through to special electronics. We work on architectures and resource-efficient algorithms to integrate artificial intelligence close to the sensor.

Why should you do a PhD and what advantages does the Fraunhofer Institute offer here?

A doctoral thesis allows you to work on a scientific topic independently and to deepen your own expertise. In addition, one gains experience in the professional guidance of students and the presentation of one's own results.
