Customizable gesture recognition and training with the embedded AI library AIfES@embedded world 2022
Fraunhofer IMS@embedded world 2022, from 21 to 23 June, Nuremberg Exhibition Centre
The Fraunhofer-Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems IMS in Duisburg presents customizable gesture recognition and training with the embedded AI library AIfES
The Embedded Software and AI core competence of the Fraunhofer-Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems IMS will present a customizable AI-based gesture recognition algorithm from June 21 to 23. The algorithm was developed using the Fraunhofer software AI framework AIfES, which supports highly efficient implementation of neural networks on embedded systems. In addition to applications in the field of device and machine operation, this gesture recognition method is also suitable for gaming applications, in the smart home as well as in the medical field.
Gesture recognition by artificial intelligence for embedded systems
Gesture recognition is a variant for the realization of a user interface for the operation of a technical system or device. Instead of keyboard input or voice input, the user makes certain movements with his arms, hands or head, which are interpreted by the technical system as control commands. Gesture recognition works absolutely noiseless and contactless and can therefore be a suitable operating technology for special applications.
AIfES uses the movement of e.g. head, hand or foot and can be trained directly in the local embedded system without any cloud connection. Intuitive methods are increasingly preferred to using keyboards or other controls to control machines or computers in real-world situations. The gesture extraction algorithm allows applications to be controlled intuitively and individually using any 2-D or 3-D gestures.
