Advancing electric air transport: We are part of the Air Mobility Initiative (AMI)

Air Mobility Initiative (AMI) officially launched on May 4

An alliance of industry and academic partners, led by Airbus, is committed to advancing the development of electric air transport.

AMI's research projects deal with the areas of »electric aircraft«, »air traffic management« as well as »vertiport« and pursue the goal of designing the urban air traffic of tomorrow and expanding the infrastructure above the ground between cities. To this end, Fraunhofer IMS and Fraunhofer IVI are working together with Airbus, Deutsche Bahn, Deutsche Flugsicherung, the City of Ingolstadt, the Red Cross, Telekom and many other key partners.

»We are looking forward to actively participating in shaping the mobility of our future as part of the Air Mobility Initiative«, commented Dr. Jennifer Ruskowski, Head of Business Unit Mobility at Fraunhofer IMS. Alongside Henri Meeß from Fraunhofer IVI, Dr. Ruskowski is the contact person on the part of the participating Fraunhofer institutes and is jointly responsible for projects, such as ALBACOPTER.

The Fraunhofer IMS is the reliable partner for the development of mobility solutions in the field of sensors and sensor systems. We automate flight devices with powerful LiDAR or IR cameras and perfect the compressed processing of sensor data.
