The Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems IMS in Duisburg is one of 75 Fraunhofer institutes and research facilities throughout Germany and part of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the leading organization for applied research in Europe. More than 29.000 employees achieve an annual research volume of 2.8 billion euros, of which 2.4 billion euros are in the area of contract research. Approximately 60 percent are generated with contracts from industry and with publicly financed research projects.

At the end of 2022, the Fraunhofer IMS in Duisburg had 175 employees, most of whom were trained in the natural sciences or engineering.

Of these, 137 are employed on a permanent basis as (scientific) employees, doctoral students or managers. In addition, there are 38 student assistants, interns and trainees.

The new structure of Fraunhofer IMS corresponds to a matrix organization. This results in the 4 business units having optimal access to the development results of the core competencies and each business unit having optimal access to all resources and development results.

The employees of Fraunhofer IMS publish regularly in scientific journals and trade journals. In addition, conference papers, dissertations or abstracts of our scientists are frequently published. You can find all these scientific publications listed here by year.
