FAQ Career

In the FAQ we offer you a collection of frequently asked questions about the application. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us directly.

How can I apply at the Fraunhofer IMS?

Please apply exclusively online via our career portal. Unfortunately, applications by e-mail or mail cannot be considered.

Which documents should I submit?

In order not to delay the application process unnecessarily, please send us your complete documents so that we can get a comprehensive picture of you. This includes cover letter, resume, academic transcripts and work/internship/training references. If you are currently still studying, please submit your most recent transcript of grades and certificate of enrollment. Applicants from non-EU countries also upload a copy of the current residence permit.

How should the application be formatted?

To simplify the processing of your application, please upload your files only in Word or PDF format in our online application system. Since the system only allows the upload of 5 files, we recommend combining various documents into PDF files (e.g. cover letter, resume, university transcripts/grades, job references, other documents). The maximum size of the individual files must not exceed 50 MB.

What should I keep in mind when preparing my application documents?

Make sure that you submit your complete application documents and that they are up to date. Make sure that scanned documents are of legible quality.

Can I also submit an speculative application?

If none of the currently advertised positions appeals to you, you are welcome to submit a speculative application. Please use the corresponding speculative positions (internship, thesis, student assistant, doctorate, and research associate) and make sure to specifically mention the business area or research topics in which you would like to support us in your cover letter.

Can I apply for several positions at the same time?

In principle, it is possible to apply for several positions at the same time, provided that they match your qualifications.

What are the application deadlines?

There is no general application deadline for our advertised positions. For internships or theses, however, you should allow for a lead time of approximately two to three months.

How do I find out about new vacancies at Fraunhofer IMS? Is there a job newsletter?

We offer an individual job subscription for which you can register here. Simply enter your e-mail address and a password. You will then automatically be informed by e-mail about newly advertised positions.

Will my data be treated confidentially?

The Fraunhofer IMS adheres to the regulations of the Federal Data Protection Act. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for further details. This will be displayed when you apply online.

What is the TVöD?

The TVöD is the collective agreement for the public sector.

Who can I contact with questions regarding my application?
