Directors of the Institute

The directors at the Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems IMS in Duisburg are Prof. Dr. Anton Grabmaier (director) and Prof. Dr. Holger Vogt (deputy director).

Director of the Institute

Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Anton Grabmaier

The family man was born in 1963 and has been working as the director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems IMS in Duisburg since 2006. Since then he has been holding the chair for the field “Electronic components and circuits” at the University Duisburg-Essen as well. The physicist studied at the University of Stuttgart and specialized in semiconductor physics and measurement technology. His dissertation was focused on laser diodes. Before 2006, Prof. Dr. Anton Grabmaier worked at Siemens VDO Automotive in Regensburg, one of the world’s leading automotive suppliers for electronics and mechatronics. He led the advance development of sensors and was in charge of product development and marketing on an international level since 1999. Before that he had been working at Valeo Schalter und Sensoren GmbH in Bietigheim-Bissingen as director of sensor and cassette technology.

Deputy Director

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Holger Vogt

Professor Holger Vogt is the deputy director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems IMS in Duisburg. The family father was born in 1955 and has been a professor in the field of “Electronic components and circuits” at the University Duisburg-Essen and has been teaching the subjects semiconductor technology and microsystems. The electrical engineer studied at the University Dortmund and specialized early on in CMOS semiconductor technology, which has been the subject of his dissertation as well. Prof. Dr. Vogt has been working at Fraunhofer IMS since 1985 – he helped establish and build the institute. Thus, he has been part of the IMS team from the very first day and knows the institute in its entire breadth. At IMS he started as team leader and then as department head for technology, research and development – today, he is in charge of the MST Lab&Fab, the acquisition of major projects as well as strategic questions at the institute.
