Director Prof. Dr. rer nat. Anton Grabmaier

Professor Dr. Anton Grabmaier has been the director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems since 2006.

The family man was born in 1963. Before 2006 he worked at one of the global leading companies for component suppliers of electronics and mechatronics, i.e. “Siemens VDO Automotive” in Regensburg. Since 1999 he responsibly was in charge of the predevelopment of sensors and took the responsibility for marketing and product development at international level. Furthermore he worked several years at “Valeo Circuits and Sensors” in Bietigheim-Bissingen (formerly “ITT Automotive Europe”), where he was head of sensor and cartridge-technology in the end.

The physicist studied at the University in Stuttgart, he focussed on semiconductor physics and measuring technique. In his graduation, he concentrated on laser diodes.

Professor Grabmaier followed in the footsteps of Professor Günter Zimmer who went into retirement at the end of 2005. Professor Zimmer directed the institute since its foundation in 1984.

Deputy director Prof. Dr.-Ing. Holger Vogt

Professor Holger Vogt is deputy director of the institute and head of the department “Technology Research and Development”. He is one of the founding members and knows the institute in its entire scope.

Professor Vogt is adept in CMOS semiconductor technology. In 2009, he founded a microsystems technology laboratory to enhance the CMOS technology. In this laboratory, conventional CMOS ICs are equipped with layers thus generating additional functions by the use of post-processing. This enables the diversified application in medicine and industrial electronics as well as in intelligent rooms and buildings.
