The Fraunhofer IMS has developed a digital 17 µm QVGA-IRFPA

Summary of the core parameter digital 17 µm QVGA-IRFPA:

 

  • Uncooled infrared sensors for thermal measuring or imaging applications in MWIR-range (wavelength 3 µm to  5 µm) or in LWIR-range (wavelength 8 µm to 14 µm)
  • Optical resolution: 320 x 256 pixel  (configurable)
    • Line resolution of 4 to 256 lines (digital adjustable)
    • Column resolution: 240 columns (non-adjustable)
  • Temperature resolution: NETD < 60 mK (f/1.0, 295K, 30Hz)
  • Scene dynamic : ΔT > 300K (without deterioration of the NETD-value)
  • Sensor technology: uncooled microbolometer (amorphous silicon, pixelpitch: 17µm)
  • Integrated temperature sensors (analog and digital) for operating modes TEC-less and Shutter-less
  • Direct 16-bit-readout of the microbolometer
  • Optimized low-noise microbolometer readout with low fixed pattern noise
  • Vacuum case: miniaturized chip-scale-package

Fraunhofer IMS Eval-Kit IRFPA-camera

For the simplified commissioning of the digital 17 µm QVGA-IRFPA the Fraunhofer IMS has developed an Eval-Kit IRFPA-camera. Summary core parameters Eval-Kit IRFPA-camera:

 

  • Measurable spectral range: 8 μm-14 μm
  • Scene temperature measuring range:  -40 °C - + 100 °C (expandable to 900°C)
  • Sensor: digital 17 µm QVGA-IRFPA
  • Objective: LWIR Objective, f / 0.85, f = 12 mm, manual focus
  • Maximum framerate: 30 Hz
  • Measurements (H/W/D):          
    • 107 mm x 85 mm x 102 mm (without lens)
    • 107 mm x 85 mm x 150 mm (with lens)
  • Power supply:  12 V/ 1 A with power adapter
  • Performance: 2,3W
  • Interface: USB 2.0 (video and configuration)
  • System requirements: PC with Windows 7 and USB 2.0
  • Provided Software: USB driver FTDI, PC-Software for visualization and configuration. Software shows raw image and unfiltered IRFPA images.
